ABOUT US

Ballymoney u3a (Bu3a) is situated in the beautiful Causeway Coast and Glens area. Bu3a is a member of the Third Age Trust whose vision, like ours, “is to make lifelong learning, through the experience of u3a’s a reality for all”. Members come from all walks of life with experiences and skills to share and we strongly promote the social aspect of making new friendships.

Our main aim is long-term learning and having fun! Bu3a seeks to achieve their aim through Monthly Meetings, Activities and Events. This all happens in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

Ballymoney u3a is part of a UK-wide collection of 1000+ charities that provide the opportunity for people to come together and learn for fun. Further information about u3a can be found at: www.u3a.org.uk.

Monthly Meetings, Events and Activities

 

Monthly Meetings and Events are on the first Tuesday of each month, with refreshments being served from 10.20 am – 10.50 am. Our current venue is for these is Connect Centre, 2-6 Model School Road, Ballymoney BT53 6BH. Monthly meetings are driven by an annual programme of guest speakers and topics. A guest speaker is present at monthly meetings from September to November and January to April. Guests are welcome at our meetings and are a valuable opportunity to see us in action.

Activity Groups include a Book Group, Bridge, Creative Writing, Computers technology, the Environment, Family/Local History, Gardening, Golf, Photography, Ukulele and social activities which includes: Coffee-Catch-Up, Out-to-Lunch. These change from time to time and are always under review. Please see our current list here.

Events:

Christmas Lunch gives us the opportunity to be social and enjoy each other’s company.

Our annual outing takes place on the first Tuesday of June each year to a place of interest and is well attended. Guests are welcome to join our outings which provide an opportunity to meet and socialise with members from across all our activities.

Occasional Outings and Events are arranged by Activity groups are often open to other Bu3a members.

Our Annual General Meeting takes place on the first Tuesday of May each year.
